History of BMW
In 1917, a young engineer named Willy Messerschmitt joined his father’s workshop in Augsburg where he worked as an apprentice for two years before joining Daimler-Motorswerke AG in 1919 to work with Wilhelm Fichtner on developing aircraft engines. He also started working at the firm’s engineering department under Walter von Reuter. The first motorcycle made by this team is called “Rennsport” or racing sport.
It had three wheels instead of four. This model was built between 1923 and 1927. By 1924, they were able to build motorcycles that could reach speeds up to 100 km/h. They created their own brand name which means race sport. After World War II, there was no more need for airplane engine development so Mr. Messerschmidt decided to focus on building cars. In 1947 he founded a company named Rührwerk-Messerschmitt GmbH & Co KG.
His son Kurt joined him in 1949 as his assistant. Their first car model was the Me 262 jet fighter plane. The design was very successful but it took them many years until they got approval from the German government to produce these planes. During this time period, they also developed an automobile called BMW Isetta. This is still being produced today.
BMW’s partnerships: Who the company partners with and why?
BMW has partnered with other companies like Audi AG since its inception. They have been working together ever since their partnership began back in 1937. Today there are over 1 million vehicles sold every year between both of these companies.
There were several reasons that led to the formation of this relationship. The first reason was because BMW wanted to create a car for people who could not afford luxury cars at the time. It was created as a cheaper alternative to Mercedes-Benz. Another reason was due to the fact that BMW had no experience making automobiles before partnering up with Audi. After many years, they finally found success and now sell more than half a million units per year. This is one example of how two different industries can come together and produce something great.
Future of BMW
In addition to creating new vehicles, BMW also has plans on developing its own technology. They have been working hard on self-driving cars since 2016. The company wants to make it possible for drivers to use hands-free while still being able to control the vehicle. As mentioned earlier, this will be done by using cameras, radar sensors, GPS systems, LIDARs, etc. It seems like they are taking steps towards making autonomous cars a reality.
However, there are many obstacles that need to be overcome before we see fully automated cars. One major obstacle is safety and liability issues with regard to human error. Another issue is how much does an owner want to pay for such luxury as having no driver at all? There may come a time when you can buy your car without even knowing who owns it. This would eliminate most of the personal responsibility involved in owning a car.
