Jennifer Hudson performs ‘Respect’ in clip from Aretha Franklin biopic

MGM is giving a glimpse of the brand new movie Respect.

The studio shared a clip from the Aretha Franklin biopic Friday that includes Jennifer Hudson because the late Queen of Soul.

The preview exhibits Hudson performing Franklin’s hit music “Respect” as Franklin. Hudson is joined by backup singers and musicians.

Respect is written by Callie Khouri and Tracey Scott Wilson and directed by Liesl Tommy. The movie follows Franklin’s rise to fame as a world music celebrity.

Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans and Audra McDonald co-star.

Franklin died at age 76 in August 2018.

Hudson launched “Right here I Am (Singing My Means House),” an unique music she recorded with Carole King for the Respect soundtrack, in June. King co-wrote Franklin’s hit music “(You Make Me Really feel Like) A Pure Girl” with Gerry Goffin.

On GMA in Could, Hudson recalled how Franklin selected her to painting her in Aretha following Hudson’s function in Dreamgirls.
