Jennifer Hudson performs ‘Respect’ in clip from Aretha Franklin biopic
MGM is giving a glimpse of the brand new movie Respect.
The preview exhibits Hudson performing Franklin’s hit music “Respect” as Franklin. Hudson is joined by backup singers and musicians.
Franklin died at age 76 in August 2018.
Hudson launched “Right here I Am (Singing My Means House),” an unique music she recorded with Carole King for the Respect soundtrack, in June. King co-wrote Franklin’s hit music “(You Make Me Really feel Like) A Pure Girl” with Gerry Goffin.
On GMA in Could, Hudson recalled how Franklin selected her to painting her in Aretha following Hudson’s function in Dreamgirls.
“For her to decide on me, I am unable to even start to place it into phrases. I don’t take it evenly and I simply suppose it is a dream come true. I do not wish to sound tacky however it’s,” Hudson stated.
Respect opens in theaters Aug. 13.
